Gertrude Hearney Obituary

Gertrude E. "Trudy" Hearney, a vibrant soul known for her creative spirit and wise counsel, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, in Brooklyn, NY.

Born on March 17, 1953, in Rockville Centre, NY, Trudy lived a life marked by passion, dedication, and the joy of simple pleasures.

Trudy was the cherished daughter of James Richard and Dorothy M. (nee Griffin) Hearney, who instilled in her a love for learning and the arts. She carried this love throughout her life, graduating from Hunter College, where she honed her innate wisdom and creativity. Trudy's professional journey was as dynamic as she was. She retired as an Account Manager with Geffen Records of New York, NY, where her spirited approach and innovative ideas left an indelible mark on the music industry. In her retirement, Trudy continued to channel her energies into the nonprofit realm, advocating for causes close to her heart and using her skills to make a difference in her community.

Trudy's interests were as eclectic as her talents. She was an avid fly fisher, a pastime she lovingly inherited from her late father, James. The quiet serenity of the riverside was a source of great joy and inspiration for her, and she was often found casting a line, lost in the beauty of nature and the rhythm of the water.

She was a beacon of light for her family, who will miss her deeply. Trudy was predeceased by her loving husband, Daniel Hall; her parents, James Richard and Dorothy M. Hearney; her brother, Michael J. Hearney and nephew, James R. Hearney. Her legacy will be carried on by her devoted brother, James F. Hearney, and his wife, Tammy, of Little Falls, and their children, Melissa Deysher and Michael Hearney, who will forever cherish the memories of their dear aunt.

Trudy's life was a testament to the power of a creative and spirited individual. Her wisdom touched all who knew her, and her laughter was a melody that resonated in the hearts of her friends and family. She was a guiding star, a mentor, and a friend—a woman of great depth and compassion.

As we say farewell to Trudy, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Trudy's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the stories of her life and the love she shared will endure forever.

In accordance with Trudy’s wishes, private family services will be held.
