Thomas P. Negast, known affectionately to friends and family as Tommy, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, at the age of 60 in Paterson, New Jersey.
Born on January 3, 1966, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Tom’s life was marked by friendliness and selfless dedication to his community.
Tom is lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Madison Blair and her husband Ryan of Northampton, Pennsylvania, and Kayley Negast and her fiancé Ben Hines of Hanover Township, Pennsylvania. His presence will also be greatly missed by his siblings, Paul, Jack, Susan, and Karen, as well as his many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Marie (nee Ammirato) Negast, and his brother, David.
For many years, Tom was a dedicated employee at the Little Falls Department of Public Works. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life, as he was an active and passionate volunteer fireman. Over the years, Tom served with distinction at Singac Co. #3 and was a life member of Enterprise Co. #2, both of the Little Falls Fire Department. He also served Packanack Lake Co. #5 and was a proud member of the Wayne Exempt Fireman’s Association.
Tom was immensely proud of his daughters and took great joy in watching them play soccer and flag football. In his heyday, you could find Tom quarterbacking for his flag football team or playing shortstop and switch-hitting for several softball teams. Tom was avid Los Angeles Rams fan.
Following is a special message from his daughters:
Dad, your life was not an easy one, and you carried more than many ever knew. We saw your struggles, your effort, and the quiet ways you kept going. While your journey was complicated, our love for you is simple and lasting. We hope you are finally at peace, free from the weight you bore for so long.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 4-8 pm on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls with a Fire Department Service at 7:15 pm. Those wishing to express their sympathies may consider a contribution to the New Jersey Firemen’s Home, 565 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, New Jersey 07005 (njfh.org).
